First Impressions

Verdict
The good -Happy with picture quality and TV for the price I paid.
The bad - The speakers are not that good. If you don't have a set-top box, lack of audio out may affect you if you want to hook up TV sound to a home theatre system or the TV speakers are the sole source of sound reproduction.

Picture quality
The default picture quality is a bit saturated and has too much red colour. There are 3 built in picture setting which you can choose which are all bad + a user one which you can define. You can turn down the saturation and then control 3 primary colours to your liking. This takes a bit of mucking around as you tend to change it for different programs and inputs.

Picture Ratings
My ratings are based on 10 being a perfect picture I am happy with. Since I didn’t pay top dollar, I don’t expect to get 10/10.

Standard definition (via set top box) via Composite video output 6/10 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composite_video
Normal TV over a good antenna via Coaxial cable 6/10
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coax_cable
Standard definition (via set top box) via S-Video output 5/10. But I think this is because of my set top box as the output from the DVD player via S-Video was O.K.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S_video
DVD via component output is 7/10
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Component_video
Computer output via D-sub 15pin - I will give it 8/10

HDMI – Not tested

Sound
A big negative is that there is no audio out. But I have a set top box so I can get TV audio out from that. The speakers are quite small and there isn’t much base with even with max base. I would give 4/10 for sound but it is not an issue if you hook up the DVD/set top output to stereo / home theatre system.

The wall mounting brackets are flimsy (but do the job well) and are worth probably $10. It is not tilt adjustable. But it does the job.
If you don’t plan to hang it, the stand is a bit wobbly due the design of the removable stand - but again it does the job.

D-sub
Windows only offered two resolution when the TV was plugged in.
The first was 800*600, I can’t remember if the second was 1024*768 or the claimed 1280x720. Either way the picture was too big for a such a big screen. So it is O.K for a slide show but to use it as a computer screen would not be suitable as the images are too big. Also I could not extend a window to the TV (unsupported was displayed on the TV).
12/7/07
The manual says that set the resolution before plugging in the computer, which I did not do.
Have not re-tested.
